**2 years** as
Postdoc in Tree Regeneration Analyses (80%)
This position aims at defining regeneration benchmarks for Swiss forests based on large datasets such as the Swiss National Forest Inventory, post-disturbance monitoring studies and surveys, and cantonal regeneration projects. Regeneration benchmarks, i.e., ranges of minimum and maximum stem densities for principal tree species regarding coarse forest sites, stand categories and biogeographic regions, will serve as baseline data to create a decision support tool in forest management. You are part of an interdisciplinary team with experience in forest management and/or forest ecology, browsing surveys and regeneration data analysis.
You hold a PhD degree with a background in natural sciences, ideally in forest ecology, and are experienced in publishing in international journals. You are skilled in handling large datasets and analysing complex data using mainly the statistical software R. You are a team player and enjoy communicating. Good command of English is required and knowledge of at least one Swiss national language is desired. Working place will be at WSL Birmensdorf.
