**Your responsibilities**

In this role, you will join the Accelerator Systems Department (SY), more specifically the Beam Instruments Group, which is responsible for designing, building and maintaining the instruments that allow observation of the particle beams and the measurement of related parameters for all CERN accelerators and transfer lines.

This position will contribute to the Future Circular Collider project where designs for the next generation of higher performance particle colliders are developed.

You will:

- work on high bandwidth, fast time resolution measurement of beam-generated radiation with electro-optical (EO) techniques;
- design and simulate electro-optical detectors as well as experimental tests at CERN or other FCC partner institutes.

**Your profile**

Skills and/or knowledge
- Knowledge in electro-optical methods and techniques for particle beam diagnostics;
- Knowledge of interaction of relativistic particle beams with matter Knowledge of electro mechanics and optical simulation tools (eg. CST / ZEMAX)
- Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- You have a professional background in Physics or engineering (or a related field) and have either:

- a **Master's degree with 2 to 6 years** of post-graduation professional experience;
- or a **PhD with no more than 3 years** of post-graduation professional experience.
- You have never had a fellow or graduate contract before.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

This position requires:

- Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays.
- Work in Radiation Areas.
