ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT

The Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) is responsible for the organization and coordination of the work of the Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D) of the Union which deals mainly with ICT-focused development policies, strategies and programmes, as well as technical cooperation activities, to promote digital inclusion and drive digital transformation at community, country and regional levels. To effectively and efficiently serve the needs of ITU members, BDT is organized into four functional areas:

- Office of the Deputy to the Director and Field Operations Coordination Department
- Partnerships for Digital Development Department
- Digital Networks & Society Department
- Digital Knowledge Hub Department

**TERMS OF REFERENCE**:
Under the supervision of the Digital Innovation Ecosystem Thematic Priority, in the Digital society Division, the Intern, through virtual delivery, gained experience in the realization of innovation related works such as producing content, facilitating project implementation and, ecosystem research and policy analysis, supporting innovation forums to reach the following objectives for the Member States:

- Learning and supporting innovation and creativity methodologies;
- Developing relevant Innovation content reports in regard to the work of the TP;
- Understanding and communicating initiatives that support entrepreneurship and, the start
- up and expansion of new ICT firms;
- Nurturing relationship with the ecosystem community such as forging partnerships among ecosystem champions;
- Helping with innovation processes and methods for internal or external innovation, including organizing high level events and forums.

Duties, not exhaustive as in below:

- Support with country reviews, conduct ecosystem research policy and, identifying technical and key issues.
- Learn how-to support and manage key innovation forums and events, including developing content and background concept notes
- Support data gathering and outreach to help build communities that are interested on ICT Innovation networks, policies, as well as best practices.
- Support the innovation challenges.
- Support the Innovation workshops.

**COMPETENCIES**:

- Ability to draft clearly and concisely, good written and oral language skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues and ask questions to clarify work.
- Basic understanding of Innovation and entrepreneurship.

**QUALIFICATION REQUIRED**:
**Education**:
University degree (or completing an advanced University degree) in the areas of telecommunications, innovation, international relations, development studies or an equivalent level of education and specialization in a relevant field.

**Experience**:
No work experience required.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is a requirement. Knowledge of French is an additional advantage.

**REMENURATION INFORMATION**:
**Please note that a non-remunerated Internship position at ITU does not carry the same conditions of employment as a Short-term or a Fixed-term position. Mandatory Medical Insurance, travel expenses, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or sponsoring institutions.**
