The department of Human Perception & Bioresponses, R&D at Firmenich SA in Geneva, Switzerland, has a vacancy for a
Senior Scientist Psychophysiology, Department of Human Perception & Bioresponses, R&D
in our Geneva headquarters, Switzerland
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Research the chemical senses and their role in human cognition
- Design and conduct innovative psychophysiological research that combines EEG, peripheral physiology, and behavioral measures of chemosensory and multisensory experiences
- Lead the psychophysiology laboratory and implement innovative analyses and measurements
- Present results and ideas to peers and business partners; write manuscripts and patents
- Transfer laboratory methodologies and paradigms to support large-scale and realistic / contextual testing
- Support line manager to translate knowledge to business
- Support line manager with strategic thinking in own area of expertise and participate in shaping the R&D strategy and support its implementation
- Develop and retain talents, set SMART objectives for team members, and evaluate their performance
- Establish efficient communication with other R&D team members and business functions
**We value**:
- PhD, or equivalent degree, in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or a related field
- Expertise in conducting psychophysiological measurements (incl. EEG, ECG, EMG, GCR, HR) including in the maintainance and development of a psychophysiological laboratory
- Advanced statistical knowledge (e.g. multivariate analysis, machine learning, modelling of behavioral and/or psychophysiological data)
- Solid programming skills (preferably in Python, R, or Matlab)
- Minimum of 5 years of research experience, ideally within the chemical senses
- Experience in an industrial setting and creating business value from science will be a plus
- High degree of motivation, self-organization, and team-orientation
- Excellent communication and networking ability
- Fluent in English; knowledge of French or willingness to learn is a plus
