Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) is looking for a part-time communications contractor (around 20 hours per week) for a two-year period. The incumbent should be based in Europe or similar time zone.

**About MMV**
Over the past two decades, MMV has developed the largest existing portfolio of antimalarial medicines (over 65 projects). Together with partners, it has brought forward 14 medicines that are treating patients, and have saved over 3 million lives. MMV’s mission is to reduce the burden of malaria in endemic countries by discovering, developing and delivering new, effective and affordable antimalarial drugs. MMV’s vision is a world in which these innovative medicines cure and protect under-served populations at risk of malaria, and help to ultimately eradicate this terrible disease.

**Contractor Role**
The communications contractor will hold two parallel roles:

- the contractor will work on maintaining a new MMV website, as well as various digital and writing projects for the MMV Communications team
- the contractor will work as the communications expert for a consortium MMV is leading (the PAMAfrica Consortium) overseeing the implementation of the consortium’s communication plan in collaboration with a grant management team and partner communication focal points for the MMV External Relations team.

**Services**
MMV communications
- Maintaining a new MMV website (to be launched Q1 2023). This requires regular content updating, including homepage, academic articles and other newsroom items
- Assisting with the launch of a new newsroom on the website, by manually checking layout and cropping photos on items throughout the newsroom (this will be needed due to migration to a new CMS).
- Maintaining an internal database of academic articles and website publication dates.
- Updating MMV’s portfolio of medicines on a biannually basis.
- Participating in the creation and launch of a digital annual report.
- Developing regular reports and presentations on website analytics.
- Developing new web content on key topics, such as gender, climate change, drug resistance and others.

PAMAfrica communications
- Review and update the communications plan jointly with the PAMAfrica grant management team and consortium partners, to help disseminate and exploit PAMAfrica’s project results, raise visibility of individual partners, the consortium itself and the donor, EDCTP, and manage all information generated by and for PAMAfrica studies.
- Develop and update of necessary communication tools along project milestones.
- Identify and track advocacy and communications activities and events, lead regular progress analysis and a mid-term review of this plan to determine whether it needs to be refined or changed.
- Develop content for PAMAfrica’s bi-annual internal newsletters and keep the PAMAfrica website up-to date, in collaboration with partners and technical consultants such as designers.
- Ensure required messaging and actions are reviewed by consortium partners, and disseminate these messages at global, regional and national levels using a variety of channels in collaboration with MMV’s communications team.
- Liaise with the publications committee to support dissemination of study results in accordance with the communications plan.
- Shepherd all communications materials through review in collaboration with the PAMAfrica consortium partners, to ensure their timely validation and availability to partner teams.
- Provide input to periodic project reports, relating to PAMAfrica’s communications, as requested by MMV’s Corporate Affairs team.

**Requirements**:

- Ability to craft a narrative and to deliver communications products with a high level of autonomy.
- Confident in abilities to advise internal teams on communications matters.
- Knowledge of how to create communications plans and deliver results.
- Strong analytical ability—knowledge of how to interpret web analytics, act on them and present them.
- Both an eye for detail and ability to think strategically.
- Culturally sensitive and self-aware.
- Proactive and organized—ability to manage projects and a large number of stakeholders.
- Impeccable written and spoken English.
- University-level education.
- SEO skills and previous experience working in global health or in the pharmaceutical industry an advantage, but not required.
- Affiliated (tax and social authorities) or registered in the country of origin.
