Deputy Director of Logistics in Charge of Supply

**Context**:
Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent humanitarian organization providing medical aid to victims of man-made or natural disasters, epidemics and endemics. ln, its Operational Centre of Geneva (OCG).

Within the Logistique department, the ultimate objective is to achieve OCG’s ambitions for the coming years, as well as to ensure the transformative capability that the MSF Supply Chain will need to overcome in the future new contexts, some operational growth, a new landscape of actors and upcoming international regulations. Finally, the MSF Supply Chain will also need to maintain the same level of quality of products and delivery to our operations, while working on reducing our environmental footprint. For that, it needs to ensure collaborative work with the Medical and Operation department to improve OCG responsiveness, the general quality of its projects and the level of care for patients and population.

**Mission**:

- Reinforce the effectiveness of the OCG supply chain to support the operational ambitions and the multiyear OCG Strategic Plan;
- Address the field operational support needs and structural challenges, with the required flexibility and adaptation of priorities while considering the ongoing challenges of growth and control
- Ensure the Supply Chain is a key partner within OCG departments, especially Operation and Medical, but also intersectionally
- Represent the Logistics and Supply Director in strategic meetings and platforms (intersection, working groups, strategic projects ).
- Manage the OCG Supply Chain Unit (15 members overseeing Front office, Back office and Procurement entities)
- By delegation, represents the Director of Logistics and Supply Chain in the Management Team (COMDIR) during his absence

**Responsibility**:

- Ensure field support needs in their response to supply & procurement challenges are answered, with the required flexibility and adaptation of priorities when facing emergencies or difficult conflict situations;
- Participate in the preparation and setting of objectives for the OCG Supply chain, including the development and implement the OCG Supply Chain Strategy.
- Lead the transformation of OCG's supply chain, by taking innovative and strategic decisions, improving supply chain planning, and the delivered quality and significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
- Increase intersectional cooperation and favour shared operationality through effective communication, coordination and concrete collaboration with other Operational Centres, especially as regards OCG's Supply Centre, and the MSF International Supply Chain.
- Optimise the integration work with the Operations and Medical departments, focusing on precise medical operational challenges, selection of standards, and improvement of practices.
- Be in the vanguard of evolving trends and new technologies/tools in the field of supply practice, in link with external experts and institutions.
- In charge of the Supply Chain HR filière
- Be the OCG Supply chain Lead role in strategic projects.
- Represent the Logistics and Supply Director in the international supply platforms, supply steering committees and during his absence at the COMDIR

Education_**
- Advanced academic qualifications in Supply chain management or equivalent.

**_ Experience_**
- Operational experience with supply in complex settings with MSF (or a comparable organisation).
- MSF field + Headquarter + private sector experiences are strong assets.
- Experience in team and project management.

**_ Languages_**
- Fluent in English and French (oral and written);

**_Skills/ Technical competencies_**
- Proven expertise in strategic policy development, planning and monitoring of results, financial and human resource management.
- Ability to lead change through people i.e. ability to communicate vision and rationale for change and facilitate collaborative work (project management).
- Strong leadership capacity and proven capacity to coordinate managers, animate working groups, stimulate lead internal debates and to give external presentations.

**Terms of Employment**:

- Full-time position 100% (40h/week)
- 3-year term renewable once, maximum 6 years

- Gross annual salary: from CHF 127’633. to CHF 142'692. (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
