- und Public Health-Institut (Swiss TPH) ist ein weltweit renommiertes Institut auf dem Gebiet der globalen Gesundheit mit besonderem Fokus auf Länder mit niedrigen und mittleren Einkommen. Assoziiert mit der Universität Basel, verbindet das Swiss TPH Forschung, Lehre und Dienstleistungen auf lokaler, nationaler und internationaler Ebene. Rund 950 Personen aus 80 Ländern arbeiten am Swiss TPH in Bereichen wie Infektionskrankheiten und nicht-übertragbare Krankheiten, Umwelt, Gesellschaft und Gesundheit sowie Gesundheitssysteme und -programme.
Das Departement «Epidemiology and Public Health»(EPH) untersucht die Ausbreitung und die Ursachen von infektiösen und nicht-übertragbaren Krankheiten. Um die Zusammenhänge besser verstehen und fördern zu können, nutzt das EPH verschiedene Methoden, angefangen bei der Anthropologie und den Sozialwissenschaften über die Biostatistik und mathematische Modellrechnungen bis hin zu Interventionsstudien und beobachtenden Kohortenstudien mit Biobanken.

Die Einheit Vector Biology innerhalb des Departments Epidemiology and Public Health des Swiss TPH sucht per sofort oder nach Vereinbarung eine/n**:Entomology Laboratory Technician (100% oder in Job-Sharing)**.

Stechmücken sind Überträger von zahlreichen Infektionskrankheiten wie z.B. Malaria oder Dengue. In der Einheit Vector Biology untersuchen wir in Labor
- und Feldstudien die Biologie von Stechmücken und anderen Krankheitsüberträgern. Wir erforschen und entwickeln auch neue Ansätze und Produkte zum Schutz gegen Stechmücken und überwachen die Ausbreitung der Asiatischen Tigermücke in der Schweiz.

**Ihre Aufgaben**
- Vorbereiten und Durchführen von high-throughput Bioassays zur Identifikation von neuen Duftmolekülen zur Abschreckung und Anlockung von Stechmücken
- Vorbereiten und Durchführen von Wirksamkeitstests von Insektiziden, Repellentien, Mückennetzen und alternativen Produkten zum Schutz gegen Mücken
- Erfassen, verarbeiten und präsentieren von Daten
- Gelegentliche Unterstützung der Mückenzucht

**Ihr Profil**
- Abgeschlossene Berufslehre Laborant/-in oder vergleichbare Ausbildung
- Interesse am Forschen und Experimentieren
- Gute Beobachtungsgabe und feinmotorisches Geschick
- Saubere und präzise Arbeitsweise
- Grundkennnisse in der Anwendung von MS Windows Programmen (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Englischkenntnisse A2 oder höher
- Keine Allergien gegen Mückenstiche
