**Rare Disease Epicenter**

The Rare Disease Epicenter sits within the Global Epidemiology Organization and is set up to support Real-World Evidence (RWE) generation for safety, regulatory and payor filings, and medical publications. This requires both innovation and focus, whilst working across the internal RWE groups and the external environment. The Epicenter focuses on rare diseases and special populations where the database landscape is scarce and geographically scattered, and RWE generation is challenging. Federated data networks, such as the Johnson&Johnson-initiated Pulmonary Hypertension Network PHederation, allow performing analyses simultaneously and collaboratively across several interconnected harmonized databases, while patient-level data remain firewall-protected.

**Responsibilities**:
The Epidemiology Intern will support Rare Disease Epicenter with

A) designing the analysis plan and writing programming code for the first PHederation network study.

B) updating PHederation Dashboards, i.e., interactive visualizations of database content for study feasibility assessments.

C) reviewing and updating quality check guidance for data harmonization (harmonized versus original data).

The intern will be in contact with other interns and colleagues in the Epidemiology department and collaborate closely with internal and external PHederation partners.

**Qualifications**:
Holder of a Master’s degree or PhD, or student enrolled in an academic program pursuing a PhD in epidemiology, public health, statistics, or a related field.

Proven experience in health data analysis, preferably including network (meta-)analysis.

Proven experience in statistical programming using R and SQL; knowledge of Python is a plus.

Experience in data visualization, e.g., via Shiny Apps or Dash.

Good communication, collaboration, and networking skills.

Good presentation skills; fluent oral and written English.

Permit to work in Switzerland.

**Other preferred qualifications**

Experience in clinical research or pharmaceutical industry.

Knowledge of the OMOP Common Data Model (big plus).

Experience in designing epidemiological studies and analysis plans.

Experience in analyzing clinical registry data.
