A position for a lab manager will become available from February 2024 in the Ochsenreiter group at the Institute of Cell Biology of the University of Bern. Our lab is interested in mitochondrial organelle biogenesis using the single celled eukaryote Trypanosoma brucei as a model system. We use a combination of molecular biology, biochemistry and microscopic imaging (including ultrastructure expansion microscopy and cryo-electron tomography) to study the underlying molecular mechanisms of organelle biogenesis. Tasks

Supervision of a laboratory for molecular and cell biology including own research work in molecular and cell biology as well as supervision of the students involved

**Requirements**:
Master or PhD in Biology or closely related fields. Strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry. Experience in parasitology or microscopic imaging is a plus. Flexibility to quickly adapt to different projects and a strong interest to interact with students at different levels is required. The ability to organize the day to day business in a smaller lab (ordering etc.) is a prerequisite.

What we are

Molecular biology lab with a strong background in microscopy working with a parasitic model system (non infective to humans) on basic biological questions of mitochondrial organelle biogenesis. Our lab consists of bachelor, master and PhD students and a lab manager. We are housed in the Institute of Cell Biology at the University of Bern.
