Due to our continued growth we are now hiring an EHS Specialist for our EHS Team based in Lachen, Switzerland.

This position is part of a team responsible for Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) and Transportation of Hazardous Material activities at a major complex of facilities. The role provides Health, Safety and Environmental training and instruction, assists with the promotion of environmental health & safety policies, procedures & operational practices, provides advice and assists in environmental health & safety projects within their area of competency.

Main responsibilities:

- Assist with the implementation of EHS programs to ensure compliance, meet standards of the company ESMS (Environmental and Social Management System), and positive movement against EHS KPI’s. Work with EHS colleagues, as well as business partners to implement programs at multiple sites or to target needs at their assigned site.
- Participate as a member conducting internal audits or participate as a member of a site being audited. Assist with follow up and closure of action items from audits.
- Deliver assigned EHS training and partner with colleagues and site personnel to update training in response to new legal requirements or changes at the sites
- Review information sources for new and/or changes to existing relevant laws, rules and regulations, and notify senior EAS staff
- Participate in surveys of site operations and assist in the development of recommendations for hazard elimination or control
- Support the Hazardous Material Transportation Program maintained by the Traffic, Export and or distribution department
- Support employee-led teams such as Safety Committees, Green Teams, and Behavior-Based Safety Teams
- Support portions of the permitting process such as data collection, analysis and updating documentation
- Maintain competency and stay current in the profession of EHS and the Transportation of Hazardous Materials
- May participate as a member of a Global Process Owner (GPO) group focused on a particular program area to drive enhancements and consistency across ELC

**Qualifications**

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree or similar in Environmental Science or Safety Science or Engineering or other Science/Technology
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of Environmental Affairs or Safety or Health or Hazardous Materials and Machinery Safety
- Preferred certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST) or similar designations or working towards such certification
- Ability to work with a geographically dispersed team in diverse work environments from manufacturing, distribution, labs, offices and retail
- Very good presentation and communication skills and ability to adjust communication style based on the situation and the audience
- Know how of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization. Ability to understand and communicate technical environmental and safety requirements to both EHS staff and our business partners
- Ability to work independently with periodic supervision
- Good PC skills to manipulate and present data
- Knowledge and experience with Swiss Environmental, Health & Safety regulations
- Full professional proficiency in German and in English
