**Thoratec Switzerland GmbH** is an Affiliate of **Abbott** and takes care of the development and manufacturing of our mechanical circulatory support devices, that are designed to support a broad range of advanced heart failure patients. To complete our team in Zürich, we are looking for a:
**Manager Procurement**:
The Manager Procurement is responsible for setting and executing procurement strategies for goods and services required within the entity. In conjunction with supporting internal business areas and projects, he/she identifies opportunities for cost reduction, quality and technology, develops and executes strategies to achieve them. Provides effective leadership and coaching to the procurement team members in order to achieve best performance and results.

**What You'll Do**:

- Implement sourcing strategies to support objectives in the area of indirect or direct commodities, providing the entity a competitive advantage in the areas of materials, supplies.
- Ensure procurement best practices are applied, continuous optimization of processes, methods, performance measurements, use of digitalization and automatization.
- Provide effective leadership and coaching to the procurement team members to achieve best performance and results.
- Select and develops best talents, leads them with empathy and per example and ensure results by goal setting regular reviews.
- Support NPD to assure best partners from a technical but also from a commercial standpoint are selected and commercial contracts are in place
- Locate, analyze and develop a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future needs.
- Negotiate and manage contracts/agreements for assigned commodities with low to medium risk and low to medium complexity.
- Administer agreements per best practices.
- Develop risk management strategies and recommends short and long terms strategies with defined risk/benefit strategies. Develop alternate sources to ensure a steady flow of goods, materials, and/or services.
- Maintain budget and performs analyses of costs related to labor rates, charges, time, and cost of materials.
- Monitor supplier capability and performance to ensure maintenance of deliver, quality and price commitments.
- Maintain and promotes sound relationships with suppliers and business community.
- Support projects to assure all procurement activities are performed as required.
- Create and maintains mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement. This includes driving continuous improvements with the supplier base.
- Develop cross-functional teams to understand division-wide needs and evaluate suppliers.
- Understand, track and forecast the key cost drivers and market factors for assigned commodities.
- Compile market condition information regarding commodities and suppliers and suggest/implement business strategy changes.
- Lead in the development of materials policies and procedures.
- Comply with ISO 13485 and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Scout for new technologies and opportunities within the supply chain and initiates implementations
- Perform other duties as required by senior management.

**Your Profile**:

- Bachelor’s / Masters’ degree in a technical discipline, preferably in electronics / electrical engineering, robotics, mechatronics or an equivalent field (EEIT)
- 10+ year track record with supply chain experience across sourcing and supplier diversity
- Experience within the medical device industry preferred
- Further education and certifications within the area of supply chain preferred (MAS, CPM)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization; fluent or native in English and German (must be able to negotiate and conduct meetings in German and English)
- Strong experience in negotiating terms in purchasing agreements
- Experience in contract management
- Excellent use of IT tools, MS Office, SAP, Business Objects / Business Intelligence
- Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills
- Excellent market knowhow and existing network of electronic components suppliers
- Familiarity with working in a highly regulated environment and basic understanding of regulatory and quality system requirements
- Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
- Mild to moderate travel is required for maintaining supplier base
