As member of SM Operations Leadership Team, the Head of Small Molecules Development and Small/Mid Scale Operations has primary responsibility to oversee the activities within the development services and small to mid scale manufacturing activities of Small Molecules in Visp (named Launch Plant, SSP, Chemical Development Services) as well as for the newly built facilities in this area (Aurinia, Fugu I Mono and Multipurpose Plant, Clovis Mono plant).He/she is accountable that all products are produced according to safety and compliance requirements, on time / in full and within the given cost objectives and drives continuous improvement and innovation in order to improve and sustain the asset’s long-term profitability.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Leadership of the Development Services and Small/Mid Scale Operations Organization in Visp consisting out of the department heads for Manufacturing, Personnel, Logistics & Infrastructure, Safety and Operational Excellence
- Ensures that the facilities are in continuous state of readiness for production and compliant with all safety and quality requirements (audit readiness).
- Oversees the planning and execution of business and maintenance capex projects and ensures they are aligned with the SM Asset strategy and the Visp Site masterplan. Provides operational leadership to support divisional growth capex projects.
- Constantly drives performance via continuous improvement initiatives and nurture a lean mindset in the sense of Lonza’s business management system (LBMS) thorough the whole organization
- Responsible for the asset’s performance, development & implementation of the assets strategy in alignment with the Small Molecule divisional strategy Engagement in alignment with divisional business and operations network strategy.

**Key requirements**:

- Bachelor or Master degree (preferred) in a Science / Engineering related field such as Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or equivalent
- In depth knowledge of drug substances manufacturing, GMP and safe work environment leadership, delivery of RFT, and leadership and development of leadership teams delivering to targets in a multi-layered organization.
- Lean practitioner and Green/Black Belt Certification will be an advantage
- Ability to inspire a large organization by articulating a vision in an exciting manner, develop leaders, and translate strategies developed in to executable and actionable plans. Strong business understanding.
- Strong Leadership and Stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication skills and interaction with all kinds of internal and external interfaces
- Fluency in English, German will be an advantage
