The candidate will be part of the Testing Technology Development team within the Testing Laboratory and Governance department, based in Neuchatel, Switzerland. You will be responsible to develop, further advance, test, and support analysis systems. The position will be embedded in a team of scientists, engineers and technicians working on testing technologies and will require interdisciplinary collaboration with different R&D teams and external service providers.

Knowledge in analytical chemistry will be fundamental for testing of the products during the technology proof of concept, verification, qualification phase as well as manufacturing quality control strategy.

Experience in technology scouting, experimental chemical lab work and method development/optimization will be required to further advance the existing test setups.

Responsibilities:

• Further develop, advance, and assess innovative analysis systems to ensure a fast but reliable characterization of samples on different levels (raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods, aerosols)
• Provide innovative concepts for efficient testing systems
• Compile, evaluate and prepare experimental data for documentation and presentation
• Enhance automated data evaluation and visualization tools
• Guide and coordinate external service providers for mechanical, electronic and automation support
• Guide and coordinate PMI internal analytical lab operation for complex data analysis and instrument troubleshooting

Skills and Competencies:

• Minimum master's degree in chemistry / physics / material science or equivalent
• Solid theoretical and practical knowledge in physical chemistry with in-depth knowledge in gas chromatography, atomic or molecular spectroscopy
• Applied knowledge in multivariate analysis of spectral data is a plus (e.g., PCA, PLS)
• Experience in experimental chemical lab work and method development/optimization
• Programming skills for data processing are a plus (e.g., MatLab, Python, R)
• Strong problem-solving capabilities, creativity and efficient communication and documentation skills
• Proven capacity of interdisciplinary and customer oriented working habits
• Fluent in English, French is a plus
