OverviewDevelopment Engineer (contract) role at RocheIn Roche’s System Development (SD) department, you will work in a global, cross-functional environment focused on workflow optimization and integrating hardware, software, consumables, and reagents to perform system verification of diagnostics instruments. You will contribute to projects on Nucleic Acid Purification, PCR and Sequencing while developing complex diagnostics systems. You will perform hands-on experiments and hardware and software testing, evaluate system performance, address errors, and contribute to reliability improvements.ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute the work packages within the area of responsibility, including reporting and escalating issues to managementSubject matter expert for an assigned area of responsibility. Provide guidance and support to team membersGenerate required documentation/procedures/technical reportsPrepare and deliver presentations of project results to team and managementExperimental design and execution of the experiments in the biosafety levels S1 and S2 laboratoryCreation of Test Cases based on Product Requirements. Execution of Test Cases, analysis of the results, and creation of the respective regulatory documents. Issue tracking and verification of bug fixes/AnomaliesTroubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems. Document and maintain software functionalityCoordinate efforts with other functional areas to accomplish tasks: Hardware, Software, Consumables, and Assay DevelopmentQualificationsDegree in a relevant life science discipline (e.g., biology, biotechnology, biomedical informatics, or engineering related to life sciences) or corresponding job experienceInterest in resolving technical problems and interdisciplinary teamworkExperience and willingness to work in a highly regulated industry and labs with biosafety levels S1 and S2Familiarity with or strong interest in software and engineering applications and toolsEnthusiastic team player with good communication and collaboration skills; solution-oriented, autonomous, and proactiveProven experience in laboratory diagnostics and/or service and support, and experience supporting HW and SW is an assetWorking knowledge of English (written and spoken); German is a strong assetAbout RocheA healthier future drives us to innovate.
