About the Role
This is a role responsible for the professional handling of a portfolio of Property claims underwritten in Switzerland. The role will be focused on Property including International Programme Property losses. You should be comfortable acting as Lead or as a Coinsurer, and capable of technical coverage evaluation and exposure analysis and influencing a market to reach the desired outcome.
Our objective is proactive investigation and evaluation, fair resolution, and the delivery of exceptional customer service in line with the Corporate Solutions Claims Commitment.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a portfolio of claims of varying severity within defined technical authority from first advice through to settlement, including coverage review, fact investigation, loss evaluation, and designing and executing on an appropriate claim resolution strategy.
- Select, direct and handle external experts and vendors, including working with them to set appropriate budgets and effectively manage costs.
- Proactive handling of recovery claims.
- Handling of dubious / fraud cases.
- In outgoing international business: Coordination of the claims network as Claims Relationship Manager for a selected portfolio of clients.
- Provide accurate reporting to internal stakeholders.
- Provide practical claims insights and input to internal collaborators, including underwriters, sales and risk engineering.
- Keep Claim Management and Internal Stakeholders aware of loss potential and material claim developments, consistent with the Claim Handling Expectations and Standard Operating Procedures.
About the Team
The DACH Property, Engineering and Construction claims team is based in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Zürich and comprises 10 claims professionals of different backgrounds, fields and languages, handling losses in the main lines of business. We believe that the way in which claims are handled, through the delivery of our Corporate Solutions Claims Commitment, can be a key differentiator and enables us to provide a unique and de-commoditised service to our customers.

About You
We are looking for an open-minded, trustworthy and enthusiastic team player who can constructively and respectfully engage in challenging conversations. To be successful, you need to have strong communication, negotiation and partnering skills. Are you at ease with leaving the comfort zone and performing under pressure? Do you consider yourself to be a "self-starter", able and willing to take initiative and implement measures in a goal-oriented manner with:
- 10+ years Claims or Insurance Industry experience working in the primary insurance market.
- Ability to engage and lead external experts, including proactive cost management skills.
- Solid coverage, investigation, loss evaluation and claim valuation skills.
- Solid analytic and computer skills including proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), MS Outlook, and the use of Internet for research and investigation.
- Solid understanding of underwriting and other insurance functions.
