The Faculty of Informatics is seeking to fill a position as Professor (open rank) in Data Science. Applications received by September 1, 2017, will be given priority. The targeted starting date for the position is February 1, 2018.
We have two very strong Machine Learning groups at USI, one led by Jurgen Schmidhuber and one led by Michel Bronstein. Together with these colleagues, we are building a new Data Science initiative.
Salary is highly competitive. Each professor is entitled to two PhD students supported by the University. The Swiss National Science Foundation is very rich in terms of competitive research funding. USI encourages and supports conference participation (with cost reimbursement).
