Senior HVDC Commissioning Engineer

Location: Europe (Flexible - travel required) Role & ResponsibilitiesAspecto is seeking a skilled Senior High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning activities for HVDC systems, ensuring smooth integration with the broader power grid. As a part of our HVDC Commissioning team, you will have the opportunity to specialize in one of the following roles:Control Engineer (Open Loop or Closed Loop control)Protection Engineer (DC or AC)SCADA, Gateways, and Communications Systems SpecialistPrimary/General Systems and Main Circuit Systems SpecialistAuxiliary Systems Engineer (batteries, AC/DC, valves, cooling, firefighting)Site Management LeadThis role is based in Europe and requires flexibility to travel to various project sites across the region, involving both Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).Key ResponsibilitiesExecute all aspects of testing, including pre-commissioning, functional, and acceptance tests for HVDC systems and equipment in one of the specialized areas above. Ensure test accuracy and strict adherence to project specifications.Act as the primary on-site contact for clients, addressing technical issues during commissioning, providing hands-on troubleshooting support, and ensuring optimal system operation.Prepare, review, and manage all commissioning documentation, such as test reports, commissioning records, as-built documents, and client reports, maintaining compliance with industry standards and project requirements.Uphold rigorous standards for health, safety, and environmental compliance at all project sites, promoting a safety-first culture within the commissioning team.Skills & QualificationsExperience: 5-8+ years in commissioning HVDC systems or related high-voltage AC systems (e.g., AC substations, power electronics, control systems); experience with large-scale HVDC projects is highly preferred.
