In short :

As a Backend Engineer you’ll be responsible for designing and building high quality, sustainable systems that help internal stakeholders reach millions of customers across the globe.

You will play a key role in making On's operational data an asset of the company, by improving the infrastructure that powers it.

You will work closely with domain data product owners, data producers, data consumers and other stakeholders, to enhance their workflows.

You will be sitting in our office in Zurich or Berlin and collaborate closely with the cross-functional Digital teams in both locations.

Your mission :

  1. Design, develop, and maintain services and APIs using a variety of languages, including TypeScript and Ruby, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
  2. Implement data streaming and processing solutions leveraging event streaming platforms like Kafka.
  3. Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability, addressing performance bottlenecks as needed.
  4. Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to deploy and monitor applications in production environments.
  5. Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability.
  6. Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in full stack development, sharing knowledge with the team.
  7. Interface with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and support their roles through the development and deployment of technology solutions.
  8. Work on and develop internal tools.

Your story :

  1. Experience building public and private APIs.
  2. Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  3. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  4. You actively document and update technical architecture and enjoy sharing knowledge with the team.
  5. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  6. Nice to have: experience with event-driven architecture and event streaming platforms, ideally Kafka.
  7. Nice to have: hands-on with operating the infrastructure on AWS or GCP.

The E-Commerce team at On is a fast-paced place to be. You will work in a team with other Software Engineers and Product Managers. You will collaborate with roles including Designers, Data Analytics, Marketing and others.
