Hitachi Energy is currently looking for Global Product Specialist- IEC for the Transformers Business to join their team in Zurich, India. This team seeks a skilled and motivated individual.
Transformers BU team leverages innovative and diverse technology to transform energy, delivering social, environmental, and economic value and enabling a sustainable energy future for current and future generations. The business’s comprehensive portfolio includes power transformers, traction transformers, insulation and components, digital sensors, and transformer services. The Company’s transformers have been deployed across power generation, transmission, and distribution to metals and mining, oil and gas, commercial and infrastructure projects, and mobility. As the grid becomes more complex, the transformers play an increasingly vital role in improving power quality and network management. The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment. The candidate will have excellent communication skills.
Mission Statement
The Global Product Specialist is accountable to ensure competitive position, strong value differentiation and technological leadership for the assigned products/product line(s) thereby contributing to customer satisfaction and profitable growth for the products/product line(s). Key point of contact between Relationship Manager and clients and serves as subject matter expert in area of coverage. Supports new product development and delivery. Client support activities include answering queries, offering advice, and introducing new products. Organizes sales visits, demonstrates/presents products, and establishes new business. Optimizes the profit and economic value of a portfolio of clients, leading origination efforts to acquire new clients and up-selling to existing clients and coverage efforts to service the client base in accordance with business goals. A Specialist Professional (P4) is a recognized subject matter expert in job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities typically include: Managing large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager. Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.
Your Responsibilities
- Follows and understands global standards, market and customers’ requirements and their impact on the assigned product portfolio.
- Manages technical specification of products assigned and supports the Global Product Manager in developing the business case for product developments, product enhancement, product maintenance, cost reduction, ToT (Transfer of Technology) etc.
- Collects and analyses standards, market requirements, customer needs and values as an input for producing a product roadmap.
- Conducts competitor analysis including identification of product gaps.
- Prepares product market communication materials, including support for new product launches.
- Clarifies product positioning within the portfolio, with defined values per product line/product to address different segment needs.
- Supports the Global Product Manager in developing Market Requirement Specification (MRS) for product development, product enhancement and ToT projects.
- Participates in the products market introduction and supports performance and analysis if negative development vs G2.
- Drives internal benchmarks as per the defined GPG Benchmark procedure - conducts analysis, shares results with Hubs/factories, defines improvement actions by factory, follow up and tracks implementation.
- Keeps Product Group, Sales and channels informed on topics related to the product, such as new product availability, market, competition, quality, configuration, trends, and limitations.
- Provides sales and technical support, participates in customer meetings, and attends trade shows on request and supports marketing programs.
- Supports technical solutions across the product line. Supports and follows the activities to govern product management for assigned products/product line(s) during lifecycle.
- Prepares white papers for relevant customer events. Ensures appropriate training material is available for use both internally and externally.
- Drives technical solutions across the product line. Analyzes customers’ feedback (VoC, NPS and other forms of surveys, Workshops, CCRP) and defines actions to improve customers’ satisfaction level.
- Maintains and follows annual cycle of activities to govern product management for assigned products.

Your Background
- Engineering degree.
- Total 10+ years of experience in R&D, product development, Engineering.
- Product Management skills. Strong technical knowledge of Distribution Transformers.
- Knowledge of market/customer’s needs.
- International experience, Intercultural sensitivity.
- Structured and analytical thinking.
- Networking, Leadership, Superior communication & negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
