Job Description

The Head of IS / ICT Applications directs the group-wide deployment of core applications ERP, PDM, CAD, CRM to meet the coordinated requirements arising from the strategy, across companies and business functions, particularly in terms of application strategy, application architecture, application risks & security, with the assistance of assigned and subordinate functions as well as business Product Owners.

The Head of IS / ICT Applications leads the department in terms of people, expertise, and finances, and plans, builds, and operates, with the help of subordinate functions, the ICT applications developed by ICT Applications itself or obtained externally for the entire group (projects, orders, support, and application services from the cloud [SaaS]) according to the CIO's specifications, in a needs-based, cost-effective, value-oriented, innovative, and secure manner, and continuously develops them further.
He/she ensures that ICT Applications quickly and sustainably delivers its critical contribution to the strategy to the satisfaction of users and management.

Responsibilities and Duties:

To pilot the group-wide deployment of ICT Applications as a contribution to the value creation of the Group by:

  • Formulating the ICT Applications strategy with the assistance of the Information Managers of MD/PLM and direct subordinates, obtaining approval from the GL, and implementing it.
  • Defining and implementing the ICT Applications architecture (applications, data, and infrastructure).
  • Capturing and prioritizing ICT Applications demand (services, projects, orders) from MD/PLM.
  • Effectively and efficiently delivering ICT Applications supply.
  • Periodically assessing ICT Applications risks, deriving the necessary security level (service levels, ICT continuity levels [RTO/RPO]), and necessary measures in dialogue with the business.
  • Ensuring group-wide financial control of ICT Applications services provided centrally by ICT or decentrally by MD/PLM, in coordination with Controlling.
  • Ensuring group-wide procurement of ICT Applications services (software and services) with Purchasing
  • Ensuring adequate, audience-targeted open communication.
  • Lead the ICT Applications department
  • Plan the deployment of the ICT Applications department in terms of people and finances, and manages projects and orders.
  • Streamline or transforms redundant applications aligned with the former decentralized strategy to achieve benchmark cost levels.
  • Develop new group-wide consistent applications enabling the strategy.
  • Procure necessary infrastructure from ICT Infrastructure, primarily sourced from the cloud.
  • Deliver agreed-upon, cost-effective, and secure ICT Applications services, further developing them.
  • Deliver agreed-upon and approved ICT Applications projects and orders - either provided by ICT Applications itself or externally procured - in scope, time, functionality, and within budget.
  • Ensures appropriate organization and seamless processes between ICT Applications and Business in coordination with MD/PLM by coaching the jointly responsible Scrum teams for Core Applications and continuously developing them.

The Successful Applicant

  • University degree in technology or technical field
  • 10 to 15 years of experience with management experience
  • Experience in defence industry a clear plus. Experience in transport, aviation, chemical, heavy industry will be considered
  • Experience in leading program deployment / transformation at a global or regional scale
  • Proven track record of 'hands-on' Microsoft dynamic 365 implementation is key
  • English fluent. German a real advantage
  • Good communicator
  • Strong leadership, experience in managing a team remotely
  • Only candidates with Swiss or EU work permit can be considered
