Job Title: Senior Database Administrator

Location: On-Site (Remote optional)

Job Type: Full-time; 6-month contract

Job Overview: We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage incidents, user requests, and internal tasks related to our SQL Server environments. This role includes troubleshooting, user support, and collaboration with the DBA team on more complex issues. The ideal candidate will have advanced SQL Server knowledge and expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address and resolve incidents and user requests related to SQL Server.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues within the SQL Server environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and index maintenance (knowledge of columnstore indexes is a plus).
  • Provide user access and permissions support.
  • Document procedures and maintain accurate records of incidents and requests.
  • Offer guidance to junior DBAs.

Requirements:

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL Server.
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server security concepts related to SQL Server Agent and SSIS packages, linked servers, and stored procedures, including:
    • Permission chaining
    • Cross-database permissions
    • Proxies and credentials
  • Experience supporting SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory (Kerberos and delegation).
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills (English).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices such as:
    • Git
    • Platform automation (Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell)
  • Experience implementing additional SQL Server features, including:
    • High-availability features
    • Polybase
    • And others
