Minimum Requirements:
- You have 5 to 10 years post-qualification experience as a solicitor/attorney preferably in Common Law jurisdiction and/or as in-house counsel.
- Previous experience of commercial law and/or energy and/or trading is mandatory.
- A previous experience in Gas & Power / Renewable industry is a strong advantage.
- Proficient English legal drafting skills (and speaks, reads and writes in English).
- Effective communication skills with all levels of management.
- Legal training in another European jurisdiction is an advantage.
- Knowledge of French and/or another major European language would also be an advantage.
What you will do:
As a Legal Counsel, you will be part of T&S Global Legal Team. You will report to the VP Legal and advise traders, management, operators, and support office functions. You will be legal advisor on third-party negotiation teams on a variety of transactions (commercial/finance/operations etc.).
You will work primarily for TotalEnergies Gas & Power Limited (TGP), the main trading organisation for gas (including LNG), power, renewables, and dry bulk products in the TotalEnergies Company.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing legal services and advice on the legal issues relating primarily to TGP’s gas, power & emissions (and derivatives) trading activity, business development, and related corporate activities (governance, company management, procurement).
- Providing legal assistance in other areas of the business: LNG, dry bulk trading, IT, or other key business areas of the Company as they evolve.
- Providing legal support as required to other Total Group entities.
- Drafting and advising on all agreements and other documentation relating to the business.
- Advising on legal risks and minimising/mitigating the impact of legal risks for the TS business.
- Managing legal disputes for the Company and advising on the risks and outcomes.
- Monitoring and advising on applicable laws for the business in relevant jurisdictions.
- Understanding the business and the commercial and technical issues that may affect the legal services being provided.
- Attending legal and industry working groups to assess industry changes when necessary.
- Instructing external counsel and actively working to minimise external legal costs.
