Electronics technician for testing and support Electronics technician for testing and support80-100% The Space Research and Planetary Sciences division at the University of Bern researches the formation and evolution of our solar system. For this purpose, among other things, highly specialised instruments are developed and built for spacecraft, which subsequently carry out measurements in situ, e.g. in the vicinity of Jupiter. Our team is internationally recognised for its achievements and cooperates in numerous space missions, with, for example, the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA. Space research is highly competitive and only the best instruments have the opportunity to fly on a mission. To help meet these challenges, we are now seeking an experienced electronics technician for testing and support 80–100%. Tasks Your focus will be on subsystem integration and verification and providing support to the electronics hardware and software teams. The Position Comprises Following Tasks System and sub-system testing, verification, validation Maintaining the required documentation (assembly logs, test reports etc.) Contribution to the instrument level ground support equipment Support for development of scripting languages software (basic Linux knowledge, Python…) Support for electronics hardware development incl. support for prototyping Support for integration, EMC and environment tests as well as support for building of test interfaces (soldering, cable manufacturing) Management of flight-electronics components as well as maintenance of libraries, schematics and layouts (Altium) Handling of space instruments (according ESD standards and in an ISO 5 cleanroom environment) Requirements As electronics technician or technician HF in electronics, this position requires experience in testing of electronics system and sub-system Familiarity with the space environment and knowledge of the ECSS standards would be an advantage Good spoken and written knowledge of English is required German is an advantage We offer A highly motivated, international team Central located work place at ExWi, Sidlerstrasse 5, 3012 Bern Our salary range is determined in accordance with the personnel regulations of the Canton of Bern The position is available immediately or upon negotiation, for an initial period of one year with option of extension Application Your Application Must Include The Following Documents CV in months/years Relevant diplomas Relevant work certificates Motivation letter Please send your application in one pdf to the following email address: tina.rothenbuehler@unibe.ch If you have any questions about the advertised position, please contact sebastien.hayoz@unibe.ch, head of the electronics team.
