Could you be the full-time Electrical Engineer for Traction System Engineering (f/m/d) we’re looking for?
Your Future Role
140 years of Swiss railway history meet modern solutions for green mobility in Zurich. With 300 colleagues, our Zurich site serves as a global competence center for high-performance traction technology and a development hub for locomotives, bogies, mechanical and electrical systems, as well as services for the local and global markets. Our product line Rolling Stock & Components offers products from the broadest portfolio in the rail industry. Our innovation focus is on green and smart solutions, including emission-free propulsion systems such as batteries and hydrogen. You’ll report to SCHMID Reto, Traction System Domain Leader and work alongside a dedicated and enthusiastic team.
We’ll look for you to:
- Electrical design of complete traction system solutions for Locomotives, Commuters, and High-Speed Trains, including the related documentation (e.g., electrical circuit diagrams and operation manuals).
- Contribution to the development of future standard Traction Systems.
- Special Engineering tasks to optimize performance, energy efficiency, and safety of propulsion systems (e.g., line interference current calculations).
- Concept evaluation for Traction Systems and its components in close cooperation with the other teams (Converter Electrical and Mechanical Engineering).
- Specifications of Traction System and High Voltage main components.

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Ideally 3-5 years of experience in the railway, rolling stock, or traction technology sectors, specifically in development or project engineering.
- Proficiency in traction system design and/or power electronics for converter systems.
- Experience in project management, with familiarity in MS Office, ECAD, and tools such as MATLAB, Simplorer, or LabVIEW.
- Fluency in both written and spoken German and English.
