Offer Description

About us

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.

  • Monitoring and ensuring environmental protection during engineering and civil works.
  • Raising environmental awareness among all stakeholders.
  • Contributing to CERN's environmental monitoring programme, including on-site investigations and follow-up on pollution incidents, in support of a continuous improvement approach to environmental protection at CERN.
  • Knowledge of French or Swiss environmental regulations, particularly in the areas of soil protection, biodiversity, or hazardous substances.
  • Experience as an environmental specialist on worksites is an asset.
  • Experience with projects involving industrial accident hazards with environmental consequences is an asset.
  • Experience in conducting environmental assessments and implementing preventive measures.
  • Willingness to undertake site visits.
  • Proficiency in drafting and writing official documents.
  • Fluent in French, with the ability to prepare technical specifications and/or scientific reports, as well as deliver oral presentations in French or, if preferred, English.
  • You have a professional background in environmental engineering (or a related field) and have either:
    • a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
    • or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
