LNG Trader

Location: Lugano, Switzerland Title: Senior LNG Trader Our client is a privately owned and independent energy trading company headquartered in Switzerland. The Senior LNG Trader will play a pivotal role in developing and executing the company’s LNG trading strategy, working closely with the established LNG desk. You will work with industry veterans who lead origination and commercial development to support direct trading activities. This position is designed for a commercially astute trader who can combine strong market insight with disciplined risk-taking to build a competitive LNG trading presence from 2026 onward. You will be responsible for optimizing short- and medium-term trading opportunities, structuring and executing deals within risk parameters, and contributing to the establishment of systems, tools, and processes for LNG market operations. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement profitable trading strategies across physical and financial LNG markets. Identify and execute trading opportunities within the company’s risk and credit frameworks. Support origination activities by pricing structured deals and evaluating supply/demand scenarios. Manage cargo positions, shipping logistics, and regasification or storage optimization in coordination with operations and risk teams. Provide quantitative and market analysis to support commercial decisions and portfolio management. Monitor global LNG market fundamentals, pricing, freight dynamics, and arbitrage opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams (Gas Trading, Risk, Finance, and Operations) to ensure alignment across all LNG-related activities. Contribute to the development of trading infrastructure, including systems, reporting, and risk controls specific to LNG operations. Desired Experience & Profile 5+ years of combined experience in LNG trading within a utility, commodity trading house, or major energy company. Proven track record of P&L generation and disciplined risk management. Strong understanding of global LNG supply/demand dynamics, shipping, and terminal operations. Familiarity with pricing mechanisms, derivatives (swaps, options), and market analytics. Entrepreneurial approach with the ability to thrive in a growing, agile, and independent trading environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with origination, operations, and finance teams.
