Head of Logistics (m/f/d) with pharma / chemical experience

Our client is a leading, innovation-driven company specializing in the development and manufacture of peptides and oligonucleotides with headquarters in Basel-Land. With subsidiaries in Europe, the USA and Asia, the company has an over 50-years history of providing products for research, clinical development and commercial application to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies worldwide and offers a comprehensive range of services.

The new Head of Logistics will play a pivotal role in the project for building a new production facility with its consecutive logistics infrastructure. This will include supporting and shaping the various phases of the project, as well as taking responsibility for the later logistics organization (80–100 employees).

Permanent

  • Procurement logistics: planning and implementation of measures to optimize the procurement of goods (from sourcing to the warehouses) in collaboration with the purchasing department
  • Warehouse logistics: planning and implementation of measures for the optimal choice of storage technology and storage strategies, as well as the optimal design and utilization of storage systems
  • Transport logistics: planning and implementation of measures to optimize the transport of goods, for instance: means of transport and transport routes to loading and unloading and transfer to internal recipients or other locations
  • Active project collaboration and support for subproject managers, including the design, construction and subsequent commissioning phases
  • Creating and maintaining project management documents and reports for senior management
  • Active and continuous dialogue with senior management and the other locations in relation to the logistics hub
  • Definition of powder feed systems in collaboration with production
  • Determine and describe suitable dispensing processes based on powder handling
  • Efficient organization of the disposal processes from the originator to the disposal company across the entire site
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards, environmental protection guidelines and legal regulations
  • Use and optimization of the existing ERP system to achieve an adequate level of automation
  • Creating user requirements for subsequent material management
  • University degree in engineering or process engineering or logistics / infrastructure
  • Several years of experience in logistics, automation, infrastructure, supply chain in the manufacturing industry with a GMP background.
  • Experience in managing complex logistics organizations (80–100 employees)
  • Experience in chemical technology desirable
  • Strong analytical skills
  • SAP knowledge
  • German and English. Proficiency in English, possess a fundamental understanding of German, with a high willingness to learn German.
