The opportunityWe are currently looking for a diligent and highly motivated Research Associate to join our Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases (CVM) department. In this role, you will design and execute in-vivo experiments in rodents to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic candidates for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
These responsibilities capture a portion of what your work will look like:
- Collaboratively design and execute in-vivo studies, and interpret data from in-vivo experiments to assess the pharmacodynamics and therapeutic efficacy of novel compounds.
- Establish, validate and use disease relevant rodent models (e.g. obesity and diabetes) to support various drug discovery projects.
- Diligently follow national and international animal welfare laws, and align with the company's commitment to the 3Rs (Replace, Reduce, Refine).
- Continuously improve test systems, analysis, and data evaluation. Contribute to work process optimization including data capture, storage and assay automation.
- Work closely with all members of the group, share duties, maintain a clean work environment and actively contribute to the positive work atmosphere within the group.

We are looking for the following qualifications:
- MSc/BSc in Life Sciences or completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate (“Lehrabschluss”) with at least 3 years of academic or industry experience working with in vivo models.
- Mouse work experience required; managing animal cohorts, injections via various routes, behavioral assays, mouse monitoring, tissue sampling and processing.
- Experience in rodent models of obesity: Glucose tolerance test (GTT), body composition (echoMRI), whole-body metabolism (CLAMS/Promethion), blood pressure (tail cuff system).
- You communicate effectively in English, both in writing and orally. Skillfully able to interact with people and have strong commitment to teamwork.
- Excellent data management and record-keeping skills are required.
This position is located in Basel, Switzerland.
