AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Solutions Architect to join our thriving technical community and growing public sector business in EMEA. You would be part of a friendly and supportive team, working together to bring the latest in disruptive, cutting-edge cloud computing technologies to organizations serving the public.

As a Solutions Architect in the Multi-National Organizations Air Transport Team, you will support some of the most important organizations to accelerate and scale innovation, reduce costs, drive efficiency, and use cloud technology in support of their missions.

In this role, your creativity will link technology to tangible solutions for business challenges, with the opportunity to define or invent cloud-native reference architectures with the worldwide AWS Solutions Architect community.

You will participate in the creation and sharing of best practices, technical content, and new reference architectures (e.g., white papers, code samples, blog posts) and evangelize and educate about AWS technology (e.g., through workshops, user groups, meetups, public speaking, online videos, or conferences). If you can educate AWS customers about the art of the possible while challenging what many think impossible, come build the future with us.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Owning the technical relationship with the customer and operate as their trusted advisor.
  2. Educating customers and partners on the latest AWS technologies and design patterns.
  3. Engaging with business leaders, technologists, engineers, and analysts with customers to help them solve problems and gain insight using the latest technologies and methodologies.
  4. Helping customers imagine the art of the possible, accelerating their projects, and recommending best-practice architectures in line with their business outcomes.
  5. Taking part in and leading deep-dive education and technology design exercises to create world-class, Well Architected solutions for organizations and the AWS partners who work with them, including systems integrators and ISVs.
  6. Advocating on behalf of the customer to help drive continual improvements to the AWS platform to influence the service roadmap.
  7. Supporting other members of the account team and aiding bid teams in reviewing technical responses to proposals.
  8. Collaborating and supporting broader AWS teams, Professional Services, and AWS Partners to deliver maximum value to customers.
  9. Building on your existing technical breadth and industry experience, developing expertise in AWS technologies to lead deep architecture discussions around systems and applications in the cloud.
  10. Developing and sharing best practice knowledge, technical content, and new reference architectures (e.g., white papers, code samples, blog posts) with the worldwide AWS solutions architecture organization and the AWS customers and partners community.
  11. Developing areas of depth in technical domains relevant to your interests and customers’ needs.
  12. Contributing to the growth of the Solutions Architecture organization by helping to hire, coach, and mentor other members of the team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Knowledge of software development tools and methodologies.
  2. Experience architecting or deploying Cloud/Virtualization solutions in enterprise customers.
  3. Experience architecting infrastructure solutions using both Linux/Unix and Windows with specific recommendations on server, load balancing, HA/DR.
  4. Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive-level stakeholders or clients.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS.
  2. Experience in a technical role within a sales organization.
  3. Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
