Category Buyer – Engineering Services (CapEx Procurement)

We are currently looking for a Category Buyer for a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Switzerland. The role is hybrid, with the bulk of the work in Basel. It is a 12+ month contract position, 41 hours per week.

  • Strategic Procurement & Category Management – Develop and execute category strategies for engineering services (design, construction, commissioning, and qualification) to support global investment projects. Conduct market research, supplier analysis, and manage supplier relationships to optimize cost, quality, and service.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with project buyers, contract management, responsible sourcing, and global engineering teams to align procurement with business needs and ensure project success.
  • Supplier & Contract Management – Lead supplier selection, negotiate framework and project-specific agreements, and oversee the full RFI/RFQ process. Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry standards while mitigating contract risks.
  • Performance Optimization & Cost Savings – Monitor market trends, pricing, and supplier capacity to inform strategic decisions. Implement savings initiatives, drive continuous improvements, and streamline procurement processes.
  • Sustainability & Compliance – Ensure supplier adherence to Responsible Sourcing initiatives, including sustainability, decarbonization, and ethical standards, through corrective action plans and compliance monitoring.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree in life science, engineering or supply chain & logistics.
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing is a plus.
  • German and English fluency is mandatory.
