EN Join our photonics testing team and help shape the future of high-speed optical technology. Were looking for a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer with a strong focus on mechanical design prototyping and assembly of custom test this role youll design and build the hardware that enables the characterization and qualification of next‑generation photonic circuits. Youll combine mechanical creativity precision engineering and practical lab skills to turn test concepts into robust automated setups. Working closely with our R&D and test automation teams youll play a key role in building organizing and maintaining the equipment tools and consumables that keep our lab running efficiently and ready for innovation. Tasks Mechanical Design & Prototyping Design and model mechanical parts fixtures and assemblies for automated and manual test setups using CAD tools (Fusion 360 preferred). Translate mechanical and electro‑optical test requirements into precise mechanical solutions that ensure repeatability stability and ease of operation. Build assemble and integrate electro‑mechanical components and sub‑systems for use in R&D and production test environments. Manage and distribute fabrication tasks to external manufacturing companies getting and comparing offers purchase request Iterate and improve mechanical designs through rapid prototyping and hands‑on experimentation Lab Operations & Equipment Development Support the bring‑up debugging and calibration of automated test systems. Perform practical lab work soldering wiring assembling connectors and maintaining setups. Ensure a clean organized and safe laboratory environment that promotes efficient experimentation. Manage lab consumables inventory and instruments ensuring equipment readiness and system updates. Contribute to lab upgrades and process optimization identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in how equipment setups and workflows are designed organized and used. Take initiative in refining test setups improving assembly procedures and enhancing lab efficiency through hands‑on experimentation and feedback from R&D teams. DE Mechanische Konstruktion & Prototyping Entwerfen und modellieren mechanischer Vorrichtungen und Baugruppen für automatisierte und manuelle Testaufbauten mit CAD-Tools (vorzugsweise Fusion 360). Umsetzen von mechanischen und elektrooptischen Testanforderungen in präzise mechanische Lösungen die Wiederholbarkeit Stabilität und einfache Bedienung gewährleisten. Bauen montieren und integrieren elektromechanischer Komponenten und Subsysteme für den Einsatz in F&E- und Produktionstestumgebungen. Verwalten und Verteilen von Fertigungsaufgaben an externe Fertigungsunternehmen Einholen und Vergleichen von Angeboten sowie Bestellanfragen. Iterieren und verbessern bestehender Konstruktionen durch Rapid Prototyping und praktische Experimente. Laborbetrieb und Geräteentwicklung Unterstützen Sie bei der Inbetriebnahme Fehlerbehebung sowie Kalibrierung unserer automatisierter Testsysteme. Praktische Laborarbeiten durch wie Löten Verdrahten Konfektionieren von Steckverbindern und Warten von Anlagen. Sie sorgen für eine saubere organisierte und sichere Laborumgebung die effizientes Experimentieren fördert. Verwalten von Laborverbrauchsmaterialien Inventar und Instrumente und sicherstellen der Gerätebereitschaft und Systemaktualisierungen. Tragen Sie zu Labormodernisierungen und Prozessoptimierungen bei und identifizieren Sie Möglichkeiten zur kontinuierlichen Verbesserung von Design Organisation und Nutzung von Geräten Setups und Arbeitsabläufen. Ergreifen Sie die Initiative bei der Verfeinerung von Testaufbauten der Verbesserung von Montageverfahren und der Steigerung der Laboreffizienz durch praktische Experimente und Feedback von F&E-Teams. Requirements Education Technical education Berufsschule Fachhochschule or bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline. Experience and Technical skills Strong experience in mechanical design 3D modeling (Fusion 360 or similar CAD tools). Familiarity with automated test or precision equipment design and assembly. Comfortable working in R&D environments involving optics electronics or photonics. Knowledge of basic electronics and hands‑on fabrication techniques (machining 3D printing etc.) is a plus. Soft skills Hands‑on practical mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities. Agile and adaptable comfortable working in a fast‑paced innovation‑driven environment. Collaborative and communicative with good English and basic German skills (strong German skills are a plus). Strong motivation to engage with cutting‑edge R&D testing and continuous learning. DE Ausbildung Technische Ausbildung Berufsschule HF- FH- oder Bachelor-Abschluss in Maschinenbau oder einer verwandten Fachrichtung. Erfahrung und technische Fähigkeiten Erfahrung in Maschinenbau 3D‑Modellierung (Fusion 360 oder ähnliche CAD‑Tools). Vertrautheit mit automatisierter Prüfung oder Konstruktion und Montage von Präzisionsgeräten. Sicheres Arbeiten in F&E‑Umgebungen mit Optik Elektronik oder Photonik. Kenntnisse in den Grundlagen der Elektronik und praktischen Fertigungstechniken (Zerspanung 3D‑Druck usw.) sind von Vorteil. Soft Skills Praxisorientierte Denkweise mit ausgeprägter Problemlösungskompetenz. Agil und anpassungsfähig gerne in einem schnelllebigen innovationsgetriebenen Umfeld. Teamfähig und kommunikativ mit guten Englisch‑ und Grundkenntnissen in Deutsch (gute Deutschkenntnisse sind von Vorteil).
