Employment Type: Full-time You will become part of an international team working on the Upgrade of the ECAL sub-detector of the LHCb experiment. Your responsibilities Mechanical assembly of modules made of lead or tungsten absorber and polystyrene fibres; Participation in the dismantling and reassembly of the LHCb ECAL in the coming years; Design and machining of precision pieces and tooling; Mechanical support for test beam campaigns. More information here. Your profile Experience with traditional and CNC machining; Knowledge of CAD software, ideally CATIA; Assembly of complex mechanical structures. Skills Gluing technologies; 3D printing; Quality Control testing; Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French. Eligibility criteria You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State. By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanics (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma. You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before. Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible. Working hours: 40 hours per week Job flexibility: Fully Onsite Target start date: 01-April-2026 This position involves Work in Radiation Areas. Interventions in underground installations. A valid driving licence. Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organisation. Exposure to lead. Exposure to ionising radiation and classified as category A. Exposure to risk of falling from heights during scaffolding assembly and dismantling operations. Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions. Given the occupational health risks associated with this position, the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed.
