ADNOC Global Trading LTD (“AGT”) seeks an ambitious, motivated Specialist Product Control (AGT Europe) to join its Middle Office team in Geneva, Switzerland.

Incorporated in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, Abu Dhabi’s international financial centre, AGT commenced commercial operations in December 2020. It is owned by ADNOC (65%), Eni (20%) and OMV (15%). Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, it has ambitious plans for global growth. AGT has already established a subsidiary in Singapore which commenced operations this year and expects to open in Europe and the US in the near future.

AGT’s business is focused on the physical trading of crude oil, condensate, liquid feedstock and refined oil products, risk management activities (including hedging), shipping and chartering, storage and management of inventories, the trading of oil-related derivatives and other ancillary activities.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Global Middle Office team in AGT encompasses Market Risk, Product Control, Credit Control and Operational Risk and is responsible for establishing risk control guidelines which are approved by the board. Product Control is a key control role that ensures integrity of price curves and trade data used for trading position valuations, as well as performing key trading, exchange, and broker controls.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific Accountabilities

Price & Curve validation

  • Daily validation of forward curves and settled prices used in the trading system against external assessments to ensure integrity of valuations. Understand price volatilities and price consensus methodology to assess reasonableness of our price curves.
  • Work with IT on onboarding new broker curves, setting up new curves for new businesses and products, and prioritizing price feed requirements with our price provider.
  • Provide effective governance over global end of day reporting processes and work strategically to influence Trading Desks, Middle Office, Operations and IT in minimizing trade and operational issues that may affect global end of day run.
  • Take the lead in prioritization and resolution of prices and curves issues with IT and support team.

Exchange & Broker controls:

  • Acts as the key interface with the Exchanges and Clearers.
  • Perform trades and fee reconciliation between AGT trading system and external exchange and broker statements.
  • Work with IT to set up fee structures for new brokers onboarded into AGT.
  • Validate margin statements and collaborate with Treasury to ensure adequacy of margins for our trading business.
  • Work with exchanges on new trading accounts and brokers setup.

Trading controls:

  • Validate new deals entry including physical freight trades against broker and deal recaps and ensure they are accurate, timely and complete within the systems.
  • Review and exchange ISDA trade confirms with counterparties for bilateral OTC derivatives.
  • Ensure accurate setup and monitoring of trading controls such as delegation of authority, ETRM system access, counterparty and broker concentration, block leave and anti-fraud and work with front and middle office when there are breaches of the controls.

Projects:

  • Represent Asia Middle office team to prioritize product control enhancements for our ETRM system and participate in UAT testing.
  • For daily activities performed outside of our core system, continuously identify opportunities to streamline and automate the activities utilizing digital tools and process re-engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Engineering or Finance. MBA preferred.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role with commodities trading companies.
  • Strong experience with streamlining processes and controls and desire to acquire expertise with digital tools.
  • Strong control mindset.
  • Ability to partner with IT to drive meaningful results.
  • Industry knowledge – understanding of commodities physical, paper and freight trading instruments, familiarity with key terms in physical recaps, familiarity with trading controls.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders across different teams.
  • Commodities trading knowledge - understand trading strategies, basic knowledge of trading fundamentals, global markets, arbitrage, market climate, keeps up to date with international events and geo-political climate.
  • Experience with digital tools such as PowerBI, Power Automate, Robotics is desired.
  • Experience with Openlink/Endur ETRM is a plus.
