Beam Loss Monitor Production Technician

Employment Type: Full-time Overview Are you a Mechanical technician with a passion for challenging and exciting projects in the field of beam instrumentation for particle accelerators? Then seize the opportunity Join the CERN Beam instrumentation group (BI) and be part of the team working on the production of Beam Loss Monitors for the CERN injectors and the High Luminosity LHC. You will be part of a multicultural diverse team working at the forefront of the scientific research, working in a very stimulating environment that will help you develop your skills in precision mechanics, assembly, vacuum testing, logistics, quality control, problem solving, documentation and ramp-up of a production. Responsibilities Acceptance tests of arriving subcomponents. Assembly of Beam Loss Monitors. Vacuum tests. Documentation of all steps of the production. Logistics. Solving problems as they arise when ramping up a production. Profile Up to 2 years experience in minimum 2 of the following fields: Quality assurance. Documentation. Work as vacuum technician. Mechanical assembly and machining (conventional or CNC). Logistics. Skills Able to read mechanical drawings. Perform assembly work with high attention to the quality of the product. Document all steps of the production. Working in a bigger team and use communication skills. Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage. Car driving license. Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French. Eligibility Criteria You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State. By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma. You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before. Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.
