The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies Geneva, Switzerland invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time position at the rank of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR of DEVELOPMENT MICROECONOMICS starting on 1 September 2024 or on a mutually agreed-upon date.

The Geneva Graduate Institute is offering a tenure-track position in development microeconomics, open to graduating or recently graduated doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers.

Prior to the start of the position, candidates must have been awarded a PhD in Economics and demonstrate excellence in academic research through completed projects and a promising research agenda.

The successful candidate will teach postgraduate courses and will supervise master's dissertations and PhD theses in the Department of International Economics. The candidate will also teach courses and supervise master's dissertations in the Institute's interdisciplinary Master of International and Development Studies. The selected candidate will be appointed as a Pictet Chair in Development within the Centre for Finance and Development and is expected to participate in the centre's activities. The Institute being interdisciplinary, the candidate should be interested in interdisciplinary dialogue.

Candidates are required to submit a motivation letter, a CV, a job market paper, a research statement, a teaching statement, a cover letter, and three reference letters. Other samples of research work and doctoral coursework transcripts are welcome but not required.

The teaching language is either English or French. Prior knowledge of French is not required, but the successful candidate is expected to acquire a passive knowledge of it within two years of being hired.
