Founded in late 2019, Athebio is a highly innovative biotech startup on a mission to revolutionize the field of biotherapeutics. We specialize in developing advanced biotherapeutics with pharma partners based on Designed Ankyrin Repeat Proteins (DARPins) and enable the design and creation of a variety of modalities including radiotherapeutics, ADCs, AAV, LNP, and T cell engagers.

Your responsibilities

  1. Discovery: You’ll run discovery campaigns to deliver high-quality Athebody DARPin therapeutic candidates to our partners, using ribosome display. Work with our experts to interpret results, evaluate hits, and prioritize.
  2. Independent Worker: Be a team player and support the team by planning and execution of work packages with minimal support.
  3. Data Mastery: Analyze and interpret data, then summarize and present key messages to the team and management, to enable efficient decision making.
  4. Knowledge Expansion: Continuously expand your scientific and technical expertise.
  5. Scientific Excellence: Maintain rigorous standards in your experiments, striving for scientific excellence.
  6. Lab Equipment Care: Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our laboratory equipment.

Key requirements

  1. Apprenticeship, BSc, or MSc in a field of Life Sciences, e.g., biochemistry, (molecular/chemical) biology or similar.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of drug discovery experience in industry.
  3. Strong experience in modern molecular biology techniques including routine work with DNA, RNA, and PCR-based methods. A careful and clean working style is essential for reliable results.
  4. Hands-on experience in selection and screening of binding proteins, with ribosome display, phage display, or similar.
  5. Knowledge of protein expression, purification, and characterization is an advantage.
  6. Timely, independent, and precise in the planning, execution, and documentation of experiments.
  7. Critical thinking and a problem-solving attitude.
  8. Team player with proactive communication and ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  9. Familiarity with IT and communication tools, electronic lab journals, and profound knowledge of Microsoft Office – advanced skills in Excel would be a plus.
  10. Good written and verbal communication skills in English – German would be a plus.
