Job Opportunity: Controlling Specialist & C-Suite Sparring Partner

Location: Zurich

Reporting To: Group CFO

About the Role:

As the first and sole Controller, you will serve as the architect of financial strategy and the driving force behind data-driven decision-making. This is a career-defining opportunity to build financial processes from the ground up, directly partnering with the Group CFO to shape the future of a fast-growing, project-centric business. This role is designed to evolve as the finance function scales, positioning you as a key player in its expansion.

Key Contributions:

Financial Strategy & Governance

  • Establish end-to-end controlling processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting for the group and subsidiaries.
  • Analyse sales pipelines, project margins, and operational KPIs to identify risks, opportunities, and actionable insights for the CFO and senior leadership.
  • Act as the CFO’s right-hand advisor, providing strategic guidance on profitability, cost optimisation, and business scalability.

Power BI Leadership & Implementation

  • Spearhead the design and rollout of Power BI across the organisation, transforming raw financial and operational data into intuitive, real-time dashboards.
  • Train and mentor stakeholders (finance, sales, and project teams) on Power BI usage, ensuring organisation-wide adoption and data fluency.
  • Continuously refine reporting tools to align with evolving business needs, integrating new data sources and automating manual processes.

Systems Optimisation & Collaboration

  • Enhance the capabilities of the existing ERP system (Abacus), ensuring seamless integration with Power BI and other analytical tools.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to monitor project financials, enforce budget adherence, and improve forecasting accuracy.
  • Translate complex financial concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders, fostering a culture of accountability.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Finance, Business Analytics, or a related field; CPA/CMA or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • 6+ years of experience in financial controlling, preferably in project-driven industries (e.g., manufacturing, IT, engineering).
  • Proven expertise in Power BI, including end-to-end implementation, dashboard design, and training non-technical users.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, data modelling) and hands-on experience with ERP systems (Abacus knowledge is advantageous).
  • Fluency in German and English, with exceptional communication skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
