PhD Position at the Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation (SMI) at ETH Zurich

The Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation at ETH Zurich's Department of Management, Technology, and Economics, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Georg von Krogh, invites applications for a PhD position. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in research aimed at addressing contemporary challenges in management and organizational theory.

Project and Supervision: The selected PhD candidate will embark on a research project culminating in a dissertation of at least three high-quality papers intended for top-tier journals. Co-supervision will be provided by Prof. Georg von Krogh and a team of senior researchers at SMI. Expected starting time: June 2025.

Profile
  • A Master's degree (MSc, MA, or MPhil) in Business Administration or a related field (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Engineering). Note: MBAs are not eligible.
  • Strong interest in the topics pursued by the Chair team, such as knowledge creation, knowledge management, innovation processes, digital technology and artificial intelligence in strategic management.
  • Demonstrated interest and capability to conduct rigorous research, evidenced by previous work, such as an outstanding Master's thesis.
  • Exceptional English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • A strong desire to contribute to the academic discourse and develop further one's research skills, alongside curiosity, self-direction, and a propensity for teamwork.
