MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Completing a relevant apprenticeship program is required (Red Seal Certification).
  2. Proof of experience in trade of more than 10 years.
  3. Valid Code 08 Driver’s Licence.
  4. Must complete a mandatory competency assessment.

EXPERIENCE

  1. Five years of proven experience as a Boilermaker.

DUTIES

  1. Constructing structural components from raw materials.
  2. Using raw material to manufacture a component to be used in a mechanical system.
  3. Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, chain drives and the alignment thereof. Mechanical fitting experience will be advantageous.
  4. Understand welding work.
  5. Experience using a variety of welding equipment and processes; e.g.: GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and gas welding and brazing.
  6. Read Manufacturing Drawings.
  7. Obtain drawings from the Supervisor.
  8. Read the measurements to plan the layout and procedure.
  9. Must be able to interpret P&ID symbols from the drawings.
  10. Ensure that all jobs are executed according to the drawings provided and in a timeous manner and of excellent quality.
  11. Assist with Planning, Scheduling & Monitoring of Work.
  12. Ensure that all jobs are planned accurately and to specifications.
  13. Ensure that all jobs are scheduled timeously.
  14. Ensure that all mechanical equipment is in working order to perform the functions required.
  15. Determine appropriate equipment or method based on requirements.
  16. Support-related manufacturing requirements.
  17. Provide individual opinions on how to increase the quality of products that are being manufactured.
  18. Using welding equipment.
  19. Cutting of materials with powered saws to match measurements.
  20. Operate angle grinders to prepare parts to be welded.
  21. Align components using callipers, rulers, etc., and clamping pieces of material.
  22. Welding components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
  23. Inspect fabricated components to ensure that they meet the highest standard.
  24. Ensure that the quality of the work is of the highest standard by the use of precision and measuring equipment to check for tolerances.
  25. Replacing damaged or defective structural components.
  26. Assess damaged components and manufacture and replace them where needed.
  27. Have a good understanding of the use of precision measuring equipment.
  28. Dial Test Indicator.
  29. Micrometer.
  30. Vernier.
  31. Inside and Outside Calipers.
  32. Feeler Gauges.
  33. Assist with Administration Responsibilities.
  34. Perform good housekeeping.
  35. Adhere to Health and Safety.
