Project and Bid Manager in Space products – 100% (m/f/d) Location: Zurich (Ref. Nr. R0286126) Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), has been delivering high‑tech space solutions for over 40 years. As a global manufacturer you will be part of a center of excellence for optical, quantum‑based communications and opto‑electronic observation and communication systems used in satellite and space technology. Your Mission Take ownership of bids and projects within the Space sector, supporting Thales Alenia Space CH’s growth objectives. Lead and inspire teams developing instruments for scientific satellites and optical communications terminals, as well as conducting studies and Phase A projects for agencies such as the European Space Agency. Collaborate with multinational program teams to ensure seamless completion of design engineering, production, and testing, enabling smooth transition from bid phase to production and post‑delivery support. Build and manage relationships with customers, primes, and key stakeholders. Provide clear leadership and strategic vision to the project or bid team. Review, commit to, and consolidate project or bid baselines and schedules while driving on‑time delivery. Effectively manage costs, forecasts, risks, and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare accurate and consistent project reports for internal and external stakeholders. Recognize when your team needs additional support and secure the necessary resources from within the organization. Qualifications Degree in Space/Aerospace Engineering. Proven track record in successfully leading development projects in the space sector. Concrete experience across the product development lifecycle and delivery of new space products in accordance with ESA standards. Experience developing electronic system components compliant with ECSS standards. Strong capability in managing complex project teams and organizational structures, including suppliers, external agencies, customers, and internal entities. Hands‑on experience collaborating with space agencies such as ESA, Swiss Space Office, or equivalent. Excellent command of English (negotiation). German a plus; French or Italian an asset.
