Roche’s Research and Early Development organisations at Genentech (gRED) and Pharma (pRED) have demonstrated how these technologies accelerate R&D, leveraging data and novel computational models to drive impact. Seamless data sharing and access to models across gRED and pRED are essential to maximising these opportunities. The new Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CoE) is a strategic, unified group whose goal is to harness this transformative power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist our scientists in both pRED and gRED to deliver more innovative and transformative medicines for patients worldwide.Within the CoE organisation, the Data and Digital Catalyst (DDC) organisation drives the modernisation of our computational and data ecosystems and integration of digital technologies across Research and Early Development to enable our stakeholders, power data-driven science and accelerate decision-making.As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the architecture and delivery of the core automation control and data frameworks. You will take ownership of significant features and ensure the development of scalable and reliable integration solutions. This is a unique opportunity to empower our scientists with reliable and interconnected systems, and accelerate the discovery of transformative medicines for patients worldwide.### **The Opportunity*** Lead the design and implementation of complex features for the cross-vendor software frameworks, focused on automation control, data extraction, and workflow connectivity.* Take ownership of key components within the core automation framework, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and maintainable.* Contribute to the technical architecture, roadmaps, and delivery of reliable, scalable software systems for lab automation.* Design, develop, and test robust, cloud-native software systems for control and data interfacing with diverse laboratory automation systems.* Partner with product managers and scientists to deeply understand user needs and translate them into clear, actionable technical specifications.* Provide technical guidance and conduct design reviews to set a high bar for engineering excellence within the team. Apply and advocate for best practices in distributed systems, data engineering, and cloud-native architecture to inform design decisions.* Be willing to span the stack and contribute where needed, even outside of your core area of expertise.### ### **Who You Are*** B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 4+ years of professional experience in backend or data engineering roles.* Deep, hands-on technical contributions and expert technical knowledge of principles related to distributed systems, data engineering, software architecture, and system design.* Expert-level proficiency in Python and Java.* Expert level technical background in cloud-native architectures (ideally AWS).* Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted partnerships with internal and external collaborators. A passion for direct, continuous engagement with scientists (end users) to rapidly iterate, refine features and deploy quickly.*Preferred But Not Required** Experience in Pharma or Biotech, ideally with experience working with scientists or in a research environment.* Direct experience with automation control systems, integrated workcells, and interfacing with diverse laboratory automation systems (e.g., scheduling software, liquid handlers, robotic arms).* Front end development experience with Typescript/Javascript using modern frameworks.#ComputationCoE #tech4lifeComputationalSciences### Quem nós somosUm futuro mais saudável nos leva a inovar.
