As a Junior Food Scientist / Application Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our plant-based ingredient applications to market and supporting our product development efforts.

You will integrate your expertise of ingredient technology and application science, combining deep knowledge of ingredient functionality with practical application insights. This role will focus on advancing ingredient formulations and providing strategic technical support to enhance our product development processes.

At Fabas we’re fueled by a simple yet powerful mission: to foster pulse consumption in the western world. We kicked off our start-up journey in 2021 with consumer products made of pulses grown by our farmers in Switzerland. To increase our impact, we are now focusing on pulse-based ingredients for the industry. We do not just want to meet the standards with our pulse-based ingredients. By combining novel extraction and fermentation techniques, we want to set a new benchmark regarding quality, sustainability, and taste.

Your Responsibilities

Product and Application Development

  • Identify and develop new applications for our ingredients, improving their functionality, flavor, and texture in various B2B contexts.
  • Support our work on the development and optimization of our ingredient formulations.

Technical Support and Project Coordination

  • Provide technical guidance to clients, addressing challenges related to ingredient applications.
  • Offer solutions to optimize ingredient use and resolve application issues.

Collaboration and Innovation

  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to integrate new technologies and methodologies into our product development processes.
  • Engage in collaborative projects with research institutions and industry experts, focusing on advancements in application engineering and ingredient technology.

Your Qualifications

  • Experience in both ingredient formulation and application development, with a track record in plant-based foods.
  • Expertise in ingredient functionality and application, including experience with dairy applications, enzyme technology, and bioprocess monitoring.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to provide strategic technical support.
  • Strong hands-on analytical skills for bioprocess monitoring.
