We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Middle Officer to join our Fuel desk. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the trading team by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all transactions. This involves verifying trade details, coordinating with various departments, and resolving any discrepancies that may arise.

Additionally, the Middle Officer will be responsible for managing and mitigating operational risks associated with trading activities. This includes conducting regular reconciliations, monitoring risk exposure, and implementing risk management strategies.

The role also requires maintaining robust operational controls to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Role and Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for timely deal entry, correct position reporting, pricing reporting and adherence with trading limits
  2. Production of a daily P&L for the trading team, be able to produce a breakdown and explain key drivers (P&L attribution)
  3. Manage the risk profile of the trading business in line with the agreed appetite for risk and risk limits
  4. Strong interaction with traders in a challenging and growing environment
  5. Implement new controls: liaise with IT team to improve and enhance processes
  6. Liaise with back office/trade support/accounting/credit teams
  7. Work closely with the trading desk to be able to understand their strategy and be able to challenge them
Skills Required
  1. Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role on an oil or freight physical desk
  2. Good understanding of mark-to-market, physical differentials, cargo economics, storage, etc.
  3. Strong interest to manage risk management ETRM systems and tools
  4. Ability to work independently and proactively
  5. Strong interest in learning about other commodities (will have exposure also to Freight desk)
  6. Strong Excel and VBA skills, Python/Tableau are nice to have
  7. Fluent English
