Primary Function of Position:
Intuitive is looking for an experienced privacy professional to join our data protection team. Reporting to the lead EMEA privacy and data protection counsel, this position will assist with supporting teams in Europe and globally throughout the enterprise and help shape the development of new and innovative products and services.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Advise on all aspects of European (EU and beyond) data privacy and data protection laws and regulations, including emerging laws, sector specific laws, data protection authority and court actions, and trends
- Proactively guide various business and functional teams regarding data privacy and data protection requirements concerning their projects and daily operations
- Draft, review and negotiate data privacy agreements with vendors, customers and other external partners
- Coordinate privacy negotiations with various internal and external stakeholders and perform follow-up tasks
- Work closely with the global privacy and compliance teams to develop strategic and global approaches to data privacy and data protection
- Develop and deliver training
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Minimum 7+ years post-qualification experience as a practicing attorney
- Minimum 4+ years post-qualification experience as an attorney in data privacy and data protection
- Experience working within a medical device, pharmaceutical or biotech company
- Solid knowledge of data privacy and data protection laws and regulations in the European Union, the UK and Switzerland, and good understanding of other major legislation worldwide.
- Demonstrated experience assessing products, applications and providers, and defining privacy requirements in relation to compliance with the relevant data privacy and data protection regulations
- Working knowledge of technology business models and familiarity with operational security issues preferred
- Hands-on experience advising a wide range of functional teams on data privacy and data protection required
- Strong analytical and problem-resolution skills with the ability to balance business needs with legal risks
- Significant experience drafting and negotiating data privacy related agreements and other privacy documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate legal advice, solicit input, and gather information verbally and in writing
- Solid organizational skills, ability to prioritize on the basis of clear understanding of risk
- Superior interpersonal skills the support collaboration and relationship building with colleagues and clientele
- Aptness at working autonomously and prioritizing multiple matters simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment, while seeking supervision and guidance when necessary
- Working knowledge of technology business models and familiarity with operational security issues preferred
- Fluency in English is essential, additional European languages (especially French and German) are an advantage
Required Education and Training
- Law degree (LL.M., JD or equivalent)
- Qualified attorney admitted to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction and/or in the United States
- IAPP CIPP-E certification required. Additional data privacy certifications are an advantage
