After years of research, Planted was founded in July 2019 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich. Our revolutionary plan will make the world a better place. We structure meats from plants that is no way inferior to animal meat, scores with unique taste, and authentic texture, and is miles ahead in terms of sustainability and health

Planted is more than a delicious product - it's also an attitude. We want to radically change the way meat is perceived and consumed and inspire a shift from eating animal proteins to eating plant proteins.

Your mission:

  1. You lead the development of data ingestion pipelines from IoT and IT systems, ensuring the data platform (relational database and serverless functions on AWS) and frontend (Grafana) are optimized.
  2. You collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, R&D, and business stakeholders, to transform their needs into scalable, reliable, and maintainable data projects.
  3. You develop, test, and implement AI, machine learning models, and statistical analyses that have a direct impact on business outcomes.
  4. You conduct end-to-end data analysis, ensuring scientific rigor in data collection, cleaning, and the development of predictive models.
  5. You drive R&D projects that result in innovative solutions, processes, and designs, contributing to the company's knowledge base.
  6. You present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences in a clear, compelling way, supported by solid scientific evidence.
  7. You coach a diverse team in data science and software engineering, providing regular feedback and fostering a hands-on problem-solving approach.
  8. You support the growth of your team, helping them expand their skills and experience.
  9. You contribute to and execute the company’s data strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and scientific integrity to support product development.

You:

  1. Hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  2. Have proven experience in a hands-on data science role, delivering impactful solutions in food technology, manufacturing, or a related engineering field.
  3. Have experience leading and mentoring teams, promoting a research-oriented culture, and effectively managing remote teams.
  4. Possess strong programming skills in at least one major language, with practical experience in machine learning libraries and tools.
  5. Excel in analytical problem-solving, carefully evaluating information to tackle complex challenges.
  6. Have strong organizational skills to manage multiple budgets, schedules, and teams effectively.
  7. Speak fluent English; any additional language is a plus.
