Project Director – Pharma CAPEX
Location: Basel

We are seeking an experienced Project Director to take full accountability for major pharmaceutical CAPEX projects (€100m+), delivered within live GMP manufacturing environments, with a strong focus on complex brownfield delivery in the Basel region.
This role carries end-to-end ownership from investment approval and design through construction, CQV, regulatory inspection, and operational handover, while protecting ongoing operations, product supply, and quality compliance. The Project Director acts as the final escalation point for cost, schedule, quality, and operational risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead large-scale pharma CAPEX programmes in live GMP facilities
- Own capital budgets, governance, risk, and change control
- Manage EPC / EPCM partners, OEMs, and contractors operating within active plants
- Oversee CQV strategy aligned to construction phasing and operational constraints
- Ensure inspection readiness and audit support (FDA / EMA / Swissmedic)
- Lead senior stakeholders and large, matrixed delivery teams
- Drive schedule recovery, claims resolution, and delivery certainty without disrupting operations
Required Experience
- Proven delivery of €100m+ pharmaceutical capital projects
- Demonstrable experience within live GMP manufacturing environments
- End-to-end project ownership beyond construction-only phases
- Strong understanding of GMP, CQV, and operational risk management
- Comfortable operating at executive and board-facing level within Swiss governance frameworks
This is a senior leadership role with real capital accountability, high visibility, and direct impact on operational continuity and regulatory compliance.
