ING is a world-leading universal bank with activities performed out of a range of continents and countries, one of them being Switzerland. ING Switzerland is currently looking for a Senior Credit Risk Officer to re-enforce its Credit Risk team.

ING Switzerland has been a fast growing franchise serving a range of clients; mainly in the Trade and Commodity Finance sphere but also in the general industries business with a dedicated team focused on the large Swiss Corporates and local branches of International companies. The local commercial activities are supported by a team of enthusiastic and experienced credit risk officers to ensure a balanced risk approach. The Credit Risk team forms part of the local Risk Organization (Compliance and Operational Risk) and consists of teams focused on TCF clients, Corporate clients and ESG risk.

Position: Senior Credit Risk Officer with a focus on the Trade and Commodity Finance portfolio

Tasks and responsibilities:

  1. Performs an in-depth analysis on the credit applications submitted by account management, including financial analysis, business risk, structure risk, country risk, etc.
  2. Pro-actively shares the risk appetite with the account management function to maintain a common risk culture, including providing guidance on the structuring of the facilities (covenants, tenors).
  3. Maintains an active dialogue with account management, Head-Office Risk management and local senior management on portfolio management, client development (joint client meetings) and upcoming proposals.
  4. Provides a written credit opinion during the credit application process to local and/or global decision makers highlighting in the advice the key risks, mitigants and suggestions to improve the request.
  5. Ensures the quality and consistency of the credit applications and checks the compliance of the application versus INGs’ credit policies.
  6. Can hold an alternate decision mandate for transactions and applications.
  7. Reviews legal documentation in consultation with ING Legal, ensures the post-approval follow-up (conditions/limit adjustments) and reviews/approves the risk ratings.
  8. Participates in projects (internal, regulatory) and deliverables (reporting, audits).

Qualifications and competencies:

  1. Masters degree in accounting, finance, econom(etr)ics, international business. CFA preferred.
  2. At least 8 years of banking experience with at least 5 years in a credit risk or similar function (like lending analyst or TCF account management).
  3. Strong knowledge of corporate banking concepts, loan documentation and credit analysis.
  4. Good knowledge of trade finance, borrowing base structures, payment and cash management, financial markets and lending products.
  5. Very high degree of integrity.
  6. Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  7. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  8. Enthusiastic team-player who listens and contributes to the success of others.
  9. Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders (account management, head-office).
  10. Displays seniority and persuasiveness.
  11. Fluent in English, and preferably French.
