In this role, you will oversee day to day operations and on time delivery of testing services, manage a team of 26 technologists and 3 supervisors, interact with pathologists, manage instruments, and quality in the department to meet commitments to clients and department goals, be engaged in continuous improvement of the testing services and meet client expectations in delivery of testing services.
In more details, you will...Managerial and Leadership duties and responsibilities:
- Provide managerial leadership to the local department staff.
- Communicate the goals and strategy of the company, the lab and the department.
- Manage all day to day delivery of testing services.
- Ensure testing quality and on time delivery of testing services.
- Ensure that an adequate number of trained and competent staff is available to match the workload requirements of the department.
- Responsible for ensuring client satisfaction.
- Responsible for meeting established quality measures and on time responses to quality issues as required.
Management:
- Manage all day to day production operations of the local department.
- Manage all non-production activities and obligations of the local department.
- Provide support, as required, to the local department leaders (director, scientists, pathologists) and assist in the fulfillment of his/her responsibilities.
- Participate in and support client visits, audits and inquiries to ensure complete fulfillment of requests and interests.
Performance Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Ensure quality and timely delivery of both production and non-production activities.
- Monitor and report performance and results against targets and global standards.
- Ensure regulatory compliance within the department.
- Coordinate departmental activities with other local departments and histology departments on other company sites.
- Participate in client visits, audits and inquiries; ensure complete fulfillment of requests and audit findings.
- Support process improvement initiatives.
Personnel:
- Recruit, train, develop and retain sufficient supervisory resources for the effective oversight of the local department operations.
- Convert volume forecasts into specific personnel resource needs and work with the department director to secure necessary and appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Plan, schedule and monitor the technical training and development of local departmental staff.
- Ensure an adequate level of appropriately trained staff is available and effectively assigned to meet the production and non-production requirements of the local department.

What we're looking for- A few years' experience in a laboratory following clinical training, plus a minimum of 2 years supervisory or management experience in a clinical laboratory environment
- Bachelor, Master or PhD in a scientific discipline or business administration; or Medical Technology degree
- A professional certification (ASCP, AABB or other) in the area of expertise is an advantage
- Qualification by the Foederation Analyticorum Medicilanium Helveticorum (FAMH) or by the Foederation Medicorum Helveticoruma (FMH) is a plus
- Fluency in French and good English speaker
- Computer literate
- Client-focused with an interest for innovation and change
