Lead Backend Engineer – Optiml Optiml is revolutionizing real estate with our Real Estate Decision Intelligence (REDI) software – an AI‑powered platform that decarbonizes buildings while optimizing asset and portfolio performance. Responsibilities Lead engineering development of core product components. Ramp up quickly on domain knowledge in real estate and buildings industry. Innovate solutions to solve customers’ problems. Own the full development lifecycle from prototype to production. Collaborate with peers on architecture, design, and code reviews. Simplify complexity, guide the team toward clear, pragmatic solutions. Mentor engineers, raise standards, and help the team move faster with confidence. Build scalable systems that can grow with Optiml from startup to scale‑up. Qualifications MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent. 7+ years designing, building, and maintaining data‑intensive applications. Expertise in system architecture, algorithms, and performance optimization. Proven record of shipping and scaling back‑end systems (Python, C++). Experience bridging production‑grade engineering and research (Optimization, ML). Ability to make sound trade‑offs and drive outcomes balancing speed and quality. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English. Desire to work from our Zurich office. Nice to have Experience in startups moving to scale‑up.
