Amentum is seeking a Computer Operator to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission in Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
Candidate will be responsible for computer operations in support of AUTEC’s real-time and post-test requirements.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Coordinate activities with all personnel during pretest systems checkouts, real-time operations, and recorded test playback operations.
- Review test documentation to determine real-time data support requirements.
- Initiate and monitor real-time servers in support of real-time requirements.
- Initiate and monitor real-time sensor system software.
- Ensure data distributions using provided software are configured according to test plans.
- Manage electronic data files generated in real-time.
- Assist with monitoring performance of equipment including unsafe equipment conditions.
- Monitor backup system including tape management and escalating issues requiring technical support.
- Verify real-time software designed specifically for computer operations support.
- Act as point of contact for issues in real-time; log the issues; contact appropriate duty support personnel for resolution.
- Maintain and monitor security of systems in the secure area of the computer room.
- Ensure all data handling meets current security requirements.
- Conduct Fire Warden monthly checks.
- This position will cover weekend, 1st and 2nd shifts as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have one year of office experience.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Adept at working with computer systems and applications.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to work extended hours that are test dependent, approximately 8-12 hours both day and night rotating shifts.
- Must apply judgment in determining the appropriate course of action for non-routine situations, based on knowledge and past practice.
- Must be able to reside in a remote work location with limited medical facilities.
- Valid U.S. passport will be required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree and/or equivalent vocational training or technical certificate in computer operations or related studies or relevant experience is preferred.
- Two (2) years related experience working in an office environment is preferred.
- Experience handling classified materials and a working knowledge of security requirements and procedures preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-starter for non-test related task assignments.
- Functions well in a team-oriented work environment.
- Flexibility to meet scheduled shift requirements for direct real-time and other data support.
